5 Awesome Ways To Style Your Bookcase

Posted on February 3rd, 2020 by artsample.

Make your bookcase look amazing with these 5 decor ideas

So you have a bookcase, or you’re looking to buy one, but you’re not sure how to style it. There are many ways to style a bookcase besides just filling it with books. No matter what type of bookcase you have or your decor theme and style, these five tips will be sure to get your creative juices flowing. Here are five excellent ways to style your bookcase.

  1. Add small plants to your bookcase

This works exceptionally well if you have a larger bookcase such as this one from Art Sample Home. This industrial modern bookcase would make an awesome statement piece and can hold many books and decor items. Plants are perfect for adding that lively and unique touch to your bookcase. If you’re not into the maintenance that comes with real plants, artificial ones are fine too!

  1. Add stacks of vintage books

Instead of the traditional way of placing books upright, you can add style by stacking them flat. Separate the stacks in a visually pleasing way, with other decor items in between them. Vintage books look great when using this decor style because they add that classic antique feel. Stack 3-4 books on top of each other, and then you can place a decor item on top fo the stack if you wish, such as a small plant or knick-knack.

  1. Decorate your bookcase with picture frames

Adding picture frames to your bookcase with photos or your favorite artwork is a great way to personalize and add diversity to your bookcase. This can work for large bookcases or smaller ones like this small wood bookcase by Art Sample Home.

  1. Use your bookcase as an entertainment center

If you have a bookshelf console, like this one from CTH-Sherrill Occasional, it’s possible to use it as an entertainment center. You can put it below your television and use it to hold game systems, DVD player and DVD’s, etc. You can also add decor items to make it look more stylish and inviting, like pictures and plants.

  1. Add a variety of tall items to offset smaller items

If you have a larger bookcase with lots of shelving like this one from Art Sample Home, you will want to add a variety of different-sized decor items. Add taller items such as lamps, vases, and candlesticks to add visual appeal and contrast.
